The duo engage and entertain the audience with their stories, anecdotes and off the cuff wit, and then woo them with strong original songs and tight weaving harmonies.  The music is soulful, edgy and embraces Americana roots. Helens voice is unique, timeless and her stage presence captivating, whilst Shannon’s rich harmonies, onstage presence and guitar work complete the duo.

Helen Townsend and Shannon Smith formed the duo in 2019 playing mostly from scores of Helens original songs and a few of their favourite covers.  

In the first 6 months Helen and Shannon performed multiple shows and venues across WA and NSW. They supported Carus Thompsons latest CD launch, performed at RTR FM’s Rocking the Roots anniversary show, radio interviews with live performances and completed two tours in regional NSW.

Helen Townsend and Shannon Smith formed the duo in 2019 playing mostly from scores of Helens original songs and a few of their favourite covers. 

As seasoned musicians they wasted no time and started performing around Fremantle and surrounds. Quickly becoming recognised as highly engaging and entertaining, Helen and Shannon were soon performing and supporting  everywhere.  From CD launches to performing at RTR FM’s Rocking the Roots anniversary show, to house concerts to pubs, restaurants, radio interviews with live performances and two tours to regional NSW – all within their first 6 months. 

The duo engage and entertain the audience with their stories, anecdotes and off the cuff wit, and then woo them with strong original songs and tight weaving harmonies.  The music is soulful, edgy and embraces Americana roots. Helens voice is unique, timeless and her stage presence captivating, whilst Shannon’s rich harmonies, onstage presence and guitar work complete the duo. 

The duo love performing at intimate shows and house concerts where they meet and greet the audience before performing and then involve them throughout the entire show. Sharing with them their life experiences and how the songs came about, the audience are with them every step of the way, laughing, crying and singing as they go. 

The two musicians also perform in Helen’s full band who have supported the likes of Mick Thomas, played multiple festivals and are confirmed for 2020 Nannup Music Festival. 

Helen has been recognised for her song-writing and recently released Album “Little Lover” with  nominations for WAM “Best Country Act” 2017 & 2019  – Finalist WA Country Music Awards 2020 for "Album of the Year 2020", "Emerging Artist 2020" and 2 x "Single of the Year 2020" for "Upward Now and "Big City" - WAM 2017 Song of the year for ‘Promised Land’ co-written and recorded with Bill Chambers and 2016 for ‘Streets Of Glory’ as well as 4th place for best ballad ‘Just One More Day’ in the 2019 ASA national songwriters awards.
